Beetle Wing Purse, circa 1830-50 | Beetle wings became popular decoration during the Regency period and by the 1850s, they were full-on trendy. The chenille swags on this particular bag were popular during the 1830s and 40s, which helps date this particular example. The museum dates it much later, but this bag is no later than 1865.
