Lovely food - onions
Chard, Onion, and Gruyère Panade: cube, toss bread w/ olive oil, cook low and slow 1-1/2 pounds thin sliced onions, then wilt 1 in. ribbons Swiss chard. Layer all w/ shredded cheese- Fontina Val D'Aosta/gruyere etc. 4 c broth since I used a large pot (oval Creuset) and couldn't judge. didn't want it too soupy so just left it a litte longer in the oven uncovered (abt 1/2 hour) which resulted in moist silky layers w/ chewy cheesy crust
