Softball Participates in Clymore Elementary Carnival

James Madison softball joined Spotswood High School for its annual CommUNITY Carnival Friday, September 12th. It was the Dukes second year to be involved in the event, which supports Spotswood's anti-bullying program called Olweus.

Last Friday, September 12, the JMU men' basketball and baseball teams were joined by afternoon visitors from Second Home of Harrisonburg, Va. The children's half day of school was transformed into a half day of fun as they spent their afternoon interacting with the athletes on both the court and the turf.

James Madison Athletics welcomed Special Olympians from across Virginia for it's eighth annual Day with the Dukes on September 13th. Student-athletes and JMU Psychology joined Special Olympians in a day full of activities leading up to the JMU football home opener against Saint Francis.

On August 27th, 2014 James Madison men's basketball spent the evening with Second Home, a program providing care for children grades K-7 both before and after school.

On August 12th, 2014 James Madison softball rising junior pitcher Jailyn Ford and Head Coach Mickey Dean were featured speakers and interacted at Spotswood High School's camp at Mountain View Park, Grottoes, Virginia.

On August 6th, 2014, representatives of James Madison women's volleyball, softball and lacrosse pitched in recently to aid the United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County with two of its most substantial summer endeavors, the Stuff the Bus program and its Summer Reading Parties.

On Tuesday, May 6, the Challenger Baseball division of Bridgewater Little League took to a change of their usual Oakdale Park scenery for the annual game in Veterans Memorial Park, marking the 14th consecutive year of JMU Baseball and Challenger Baseball’s partnership.

JMU women's field hockey, basketball and lacrosse teams participate in Ability Olympics.

Last Saturday, April 5, James Madison swimming and diving participated in the seventh annual Shenandoah Valley Race for Autism at the University Commons at Eastern Mennonite University.

On Wednesday, April 2, the JMU Women’s Soccer team came together and completed the third part of their ongoing service project, sending packages to troops stationed in Afghanistan.

On April 1, the cheerleaders planned a high-energy program to teach cheers, tumbling and physical activities to a group of 20 preschool aged kids from the local Harrisonburg Rockingham Child Day Care Center (HRCDC).

On Saturday, March 22, the James Madison women’s soccer team collaborated with the Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Harrisonburg to organize a soccer skills clinic for children age 4 to 12 desiring to spend Saturday morning learning and practicing soccer skills.

As the season gets underway, the James Madison University women’s lacrosse team has not only spent time preparing for competition but has also used the little free time they have left to work to better the community. Throughout the month of January, the team participated in multiple service activities including organizing and orchestrating a clothing drive and skills clinic.
