An interesting royal provenance has been established for a beautiful Mecca-stone and diamond brooch by Carl Fabergé. An inventory number scratched into the metal, in a hesitant hand, refers to surviving ledgers which tell us it was bought by Her late Majesty Queen Alexandra. One of Carl Fabergé's most notable patrons, she purchased it from the London branch of Fabergé on 29th October, 1906.
