Architecture and Design
living room by John Prindle. I love the clean lines.
Bella Sky Comwell glows at night. The 23-level, 814-room property is one of the world's most incredible hotels. Ten minutes from downtown Copenhagen, Denmark, within view of the city and the sea.
Villa Samadhi, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Four-poster day beds are scattered around the pool lounge for sunbathing and snoozing.
The perfect symmetry of these simple geometric designs allows for the opportunity to decorate the flat planes created. Renaissance Europe saw the use of parterres and knot gardens in which simple — and later more complicated — shapes were delineated with low-growing evergreen plants. At first, as in this modern version of a knot garden, colored gravel was laid between the evergreen "lines."
Don't know where this is, but kudos to Harold Leidner Landscape Architects. Beautiful!
Consider exterior fiber cement siding; it can have a traditional clapboard look, a stucco look, or my favorite, a stunningly smooth modern look. For all climates, it's a rot-proof, termite-proof, eco-friendly product. It costs more than traditional siding, but less than stucco, and lasts quite a bit longer (usually guaranteed for 50 years, and the factory-painted color for up to 25, though they're perfectly paintable). I love the look of the big panels when mixed with other siding textures.
Nice, efficient and neat. Good clean look. No information on where this is. If you know it, please post a comment. Thanks!
