The Worlds First Electric Watch: These were very radical and avant garde for the day. Before January, 3, 1957, all watches used the power of a wound spring to turn the hands. After World War II, technology allowed for a battery small enough to fit into a watch case. Now the challenge was to harness the power of the battery to make it drive the hands of the watch. The ROCKFORD SCREW DIAL is quite rare and is all original to this watch and was a custom dial HAMILTON produced for 25 year employees of the ROCKFORD SCREW company. The eccentric 31.4x45mm. yellow gold filled case with white gold filled lugs.
