wood and iron can work together... Thinking about using that table and mirror in the room. If we do we could paint the curtain things black to match. Would have to find a way to incorporate the two though. Grandpa's wood vase?

AH HA! I knew there was a solution here. Now mama can have any wall pattern she wants (with my approval of course) so we can make it perfect and CHEAP! Tutorial: Making a Stencil for Wall

This would be very easy and inexpensive to make. Elegant chandelier feel. Twinkle lights make me think of outdoor dining.

would also probably be beautiful with the medallion or stenciling.

I like this one better. If it was too dim we could also do a second smaller loop hanging down. That would be even more like a chandelier. Might take away from its simplicity though.

  • Nancy Bergman

Neat idea. I'm going to give this one some thought on variations.

  • Nancy Bergman

The shape of the wire structure underneath the lights and how it all hangs from the ceiling is going to be important to me to make it look more like a chandelier.

stenciling could be beautiful with the light fixture.

  • Nancy Bergman

Hey! I just remembered we have a pretty ceiling medallion we can use! We would just need a chandelier that would work with it.

painted dining table? Just an idea for revamping that destroyed thing.

We could but actually what do you think of sanding it and staining it. It has inlay that would show through. Worst case scenario we could white wash it....

  • Tirzah Chantal

I wonder if it is too destroyed for that though. If not then it is your call.

  • Nancy Bergman

Well, we would have to do some sanding no matter what we ended up choosing. I think once we sand some we will be able to see if it's too far gone. If we can stain or white wash I think I'd prefer that but we will see.

  • Nancy Bergman

I'm thinking more about whitewashing the table and painting the legs white. Any thoughts?

stencil like this might be pretty to do on one of the walls. That is a similar color to the one we have. Has a european look to me. Has tutorial.

  • Tirzah Chantal

The pattern also reminds me of a courtyard.

  • Nancy Bergman

Hmm, that's an idea but not that shape. Reminds me of the 60's. I like the more viney scroll like shape on the bedspread more.

  • Nancy Bergman

Yup, love the color. It's quiet and peaceful. Very relaxing.

  • Tirzah Chantal

60s huh? Reminds me of a Tuscan villa. But you would know the 60s better than me. We would pick out a stencil that you liked and it would be limited to what we could find or if there was a way to make a stencil. I think that swirly pattern would be too busy to cover a whole wall with.

  • Nancy Bergman

I agree it is too busy

Detailed how to reupholster an old chair.

  • Tirzah Chantal

If this is something you would be interested in us trying with those old chairs then we would just need to decide if we were going to paint them or sand and re-stain them, what fabric and what to do about the wicker backs. We could potentially with the help of dad try to make a new back for them but it would take a lot of work. They might not look bad if they were painted white or something. But it will depend also on what we do with the table.
