The Tavistock Amethyst tiara worn here by Lydia Russell, Duchess of Bedford. A large Siberian amethyst mounted as a jewel with diamond-set honeysuckle motifs, c. 1810. At a later date - around 1870 - it was made the centre of this amethyst and diamond vine leaf tiara with more amethysts. In the language of precious stones, the amethyst stands for devotion.
