An art nouveau amethyst, enamel and pearl pendant, Marcus & Co., circa 1910. suspending a scrolling pendant with fringe, centering an oval-cut amethyst surrounded by plique-a-jour enamel, accentuated by circular and oval-cut amethysts and white button pearls, within a chased and engraved mount highlighted throughout by scroll and bead motifs; suspended from an associated chain of double cabochon amethyst and scrolling links, pendant signed Marcus & Co. Via Bonhams.

Byzantine Jeweled Bracelet (one of pair) 6th–7th century. Made in, probably Constantinople. Gold, silver, pearls, amethyst, sapphire, glass, quartz. The luminous beauty of pearls was highly prized in the Byzantine world. These bracelets are only two of thirty-four pieces of gold jewelry from Egypt said to have been found near Lycopolis (now Assiut) or Antinoopolis (Antinoe, now Sheik Ibada) in Egypt at the turn of the century.

Carved amethyst peridot frosted crystal orchid brooch
The Tavistock Amethyst tiara worn here by Lydia Russell, Duchess of Bedford. A large Siberian amethyst mounted as a jewel with diamond-set honeysuckle motifs, c. 1810. At a later date - around 1870 - it was made the centre of this amethyst and diamond vine leaf tiara with more amethysts. In the language of precious stones, the amethyst stands for devotion.
