In Florida --bag gardening. The magic formula for the soil mixture according to Buss is 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 compost and 1/3 perlite (I think potting mix might be a good substitute). Highly classified from the Buss wizard book is the addition of a small amount of garden lime and Epsom salt to help prevent BER and promote more flowers (I look up Epsom salt and find that it is a natural mineral discovered in Epsom, England) Interesting.
Lay down a thick layer of CARDBOARD in your raised garden beds to kill the grass. It is perfectly safe to use and will fully decompose, but not before killing any grass below it. They’ll also provide compost and food for worms. WORKS BEAUTIFULLY.
Cut the bottom off a plastic pot to contain invasive plants & bury in the ground. I have been doing this for a few years & works great for containing plants that tend to spread, but that I still want to plant in the garden. This also works good for planting a plant in an area that tends to get filled with roots etc. from other plants. I will use a larger pot so that the plant can spread it's roots and grow deeper roots, but keeps other tree roots from choking out the one I planted.
Stop Invasive Plants From Taking Over Your Garden

"Farming is 50 percent science and 50 percent art. You don't need to know every bug, plant, disease, or chemistry. All you need to have is common sense and good observation skills. Think of your garden like making a new friend: You have to be gentle and watch the responses to your actions." blogs.browardpalm...
