You can actually do this without painting chalkboard paint on the wall. I did something similar and just wrote on the painted wall (the color needs to be darker than the chalk color so it will show up of course)...and I loved it. this way you can just wipe with a damp cloth and redesign to fit your taste.

There is something refreshing in this palette and even with being extremely eclectic it all works well. The patterned wood (tones, colours, stripes) is repeated on the mantle, the stool and the table as well as the door. The yellow chair -- something I would cringe away from if I found at a flea market in case it DID contain fleas, is super awesome.
