trees- because I love them
Sweden. With the sun rising, a soft layer of white powder lies untouched and smooth on the ground. It also rests on the branches and trunks of the tall, thin trees, gathering in mounds and layers. The scene is tranquil, a place to be peacefully solitary.
I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth's sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in Summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.
Socotra, Yemen. A small archipelago of four islands in the Indian ocean. This place is probably the most alien-looking on Earth. One third of the flora and fauna on this island can be found only here. The umbrella-shaped “blood tree,” the cucumber tree, giant succulent tree, different kinds of birds, spiders, bats and cats have the only habitat on Socotra.
