Hosta and shade backyard ideas
Perfect Pairing: French hydrangeas w/ hostas in the foreground. Both love partial shade & plenty of water. 3 can’t-miss choices: Guacamole (large, avocado green leaves w/ dark green margins), Patriot (dark green leaves w/ white margins) & Halcyon (1 of the best blue-foliaged hostas). For impact, try Sum & Substance, a chartreuse green hosta that grows 6' across. Other pairings: Use evergreens like camellias & purple loropetalums as backdrops & ferns & variegated monkey grass in the foreground.
