The first time I heard the phrase personal brand was during a team meeting at Hamilton Securities Group, Inc. in 1997. That meeting focused on Tom Peters' Fast Company article "The Brand Called You." What an amazing article (it's included in the pin post). It helped me understand that the three-word phrase "do good work" (inherited from my father J) is a core part of my personal leadership brand. Today my leadership brand is "Do good work. Inspire. Inform. Empower." What's yours?
Great news! I will be speaking on a panel with Patricia Cesaire of Black Enterprise, James Anderson of SocialPeople.tv, and Roland Martin of CNN, that will discuss how social media can help women shape their leadership brand at Spelman’s 8th Annual Leadership and Women of Color Conference on May 17.
