BRUSSELS MIXED LACE WEDDING GOWN, 1940
Evening dress by Weeks, 1910 Paris, the Met Museum
In early 1961 The Queen embarked upon a six-week tour of India and Pakistan. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a dinner given by the Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army, for which Her Majesty wore a magnificent crinoline gown of pale blue silk faille, embroidered all over with white beads in a feather motif. This gown was designed by Norman Hartnell, who favoured this combination of colours.
