Books Worth Reading
Books I love that still resonate, educate and enthrall!
Cannelle et Vanille: For the love of pie
'Afterwards' was an extraordinary read, highly reccomend it.
'Can you Forgive Her'. Not the song by the Pet Shop Boys (which is also awesome), this book is one of my absolute favourites and I have read it so many times the cover has fallen off. Lets just say it has everything - give it a go and persevere through the first 3 chapters, you won't be sorry.
I love all of Kate Morton's books - she is a wonderful writer. Her novels suck you in from the first chapter and you happily go with it until you reach the last page. Then you enter a period of mourning because the book is over - luckily you can easily re-read them!
What Katy Did - one of my favourite from my childhood. Followed with What Katy did Next and one other I can't remember. The 1st one was the best.
Weaveworld by Clive Barker. This book still amazes me every time I read it. Have just finished Imajica which was really wonderful too.
Vanity Fair - much better than the movie with Reese Witherspoon. Schemeing Becky Sharp is the original women's libber - making her way in a harsh world using her wits against the men who want to use and abuse her - FABULOUS!
The Crying of Lot 49 - one of my favourite American Lit books. A weird, hyped up and crazy (but poignant) journey through the American Dream/Nightmare.
