Why Are Some People Better at Drawing than Others?
A pet peeve of many art teachers is having students who won't attempt a project because of insecurities. Often, they'll say "I can't draw" or "I can't do it." I found a page about this on the Incredible Art Department's website, and I hooked up a projector to show one of my classes this page. It's a look at several physically challenged artists who never said they couldn't do it. The link is worth a look. http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/peeves/petpeeves.html#
A refreshing look at the "I can't draw" syndrome and how to defeat it. I am so sick of the "self-defeating attitude that prevents the student from experimenting and improving with practice." Think you can't do art? Read about these people who overcame adversity, and then think again.
