Phonics Pin 1: Take a wire-bound index book and cut into 3 or 4 sections. Write the letters a-z on each section. Not all will create a word but will help with making sounds and seeing which do make a word. You can add more vowels in the center section and even common sounds on the ends like ch, sh, th. The child can flip through the book by themselves.

HOLEE SHIT!! Had to wait until I was out of college and tutor and ADD student in math to find this hidden in "tips and techniques for students who just don't understand math" in the teacher's edition. Made me wonder what else my Algebra and math teachers were hiding from me to make my life miserable.
