Matters of Style: MoS at the Movies: The Thomas Crowne Affair
My movie going group rotates picks, the rule is you see what’s picked, no complaining. Doing this I have seen some movies I wish I hadn’t, but I’ve also seen movies I’d never have picked but enjoyed. That’s the case with this movie. The previews did nothing for me but I found myself liking it. It’s nothing new, totally predictable, but I liked the characters and I liked the way they worked together. Some laugh out loud moments and Will Poulter steals the show.
Silver Linings Playbook
Great job bringing back the real Bond movie feel!
Clint gets super grumpy and curmudgeonly in this so-so pic that could be described as the opposite of Moneyball. Instead of the concept that baseball can be won solely by stats and using computers, Eastwood and his daughter (played by Amy Adams) use their instincts and "feel" for the game. Justin Timberlake is shoehorned in as a love interest. One high-point: Nobody plays slimy better than Matthew Lillard.
Another great film by Clint Eastwood.
