From The Atlantic Monthly - this chart shows that the reduction in the abortion rate in MA has accelerate in 2010 & 2011. As the headline says, “increased access to health care may decrease abortions.” Support reducing the numbers of abortions? Then you should support the Affordable Care Act.
From the New England Journal of Medicine article by Catholic Democrats president emeritus Patrick Whelan - “The total number of abortions in Massachusetts in 2006, the year before the state’s health care reform law was implemented, was 24,245. In 2008, the number was 23,883, a decline of 1.5%. Among teenagers during the same period, the decline in the abortion rate was even higher - 7.4% - even though the nonelderly insured population increased by 5.9%.”
