704 Square Feet - NYTimes.com A beautiful house, but considering it cost them close to $300,000, it doesn't seem like the "freedom" I'd be looking for in a small house.
Wheelhaus cabins are a modern interpretation of manufactured park model homes, taking these small residences from blocky and uninspired to welcoming and visually interesting. This model, called the Wedge, has an angled roof that enables a line of narrow windows along the top of each wall to let in lots of natural light. The whole house can easily be placed on a truck trailer and hauled to a new location. It retails for about $75,000.
Island Tree House Architecture: David Matero Architecture Builder: Brent Akins, Housewright Craftsman On the Maine coast , a 350 square foot tree house/play house awaits a family for the summer. Instead, the tree house, nestled within the trees, perches on a precipice on the water side high off the ground.

Orcas Island Cabin, WA. David Vandervort Architects. The site for this 400 sf cabin fronts the East Sound of Orcas Island and features existing mature fir, cedar and madrone trees. It was designed around the concepts of space efficiency, view orientation, and solar access. The cabin incorporates a kitchen, eating area, living area, and bath, as well as a loft bedroom. By carefully siting the structure, existing vegetation was retained, and the cabin was nestled into the land.
