This emergent reader little book is a great way to begin reading with young students. This story uses a predictable pattern, "Summer, summer, what do you see?" to support emerging readers. This story includes several summer vocabulary words, such as sun, swimming pool, seashell, watermelon, beach ball, picnic basket, and fireworks.

I made this packet for my first graders going on to second grade. We use the Journeys Reading series in our district. The kit includes a parent letter, reading response pages, banner template page, summer reading tips, log sheets, sight word lists for Journeys K-2, and sight word cards for the first fifty words of the second grade Journeys list.
