Alice Hoffman’s has written a perhaps her best book with “The Dovekeepers”. In 70 CE, nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on a mountain in the Judean, desert, Masada. Only two women and five children survived. The story is told in four sections – one for each of the main characters.
