Most people know that Buddy Ebson was cast as the Tin Man but was allergic to the make-up and Jack Haley took over. But it was actually Ray Bolger who was first cast as the Tin Man - but wanted to play the Scarecrow so he could show off his dancing. Ironically - major footage of his dance scenes were ultimately cut.
