2nd graders, focusing on the fun artist, Roy Lichtenstein! We look at a variety of his pop art images, and learn about his use of Ben-day dots, and primary colors. We even look at cartoons with a magnifying glass to see how the colors are made by using tiny dots, and we notice how everything is outlined in black

Each student made their own flower, first by drawing with a sharpie, then collaged with tissue paper and glitter paint. I created the background and vase with oil paint, on canvas, for the wonderful bouquet of flowers. After cutting out the flowers, I glued the flowers down with modge podge.

Synonym Rolls~ The common word goes in the middle, and students write 10-12 synonyms along the swirly lines. Color it in lightly with cinnamon and glaze colors and you have a yummy display. Great idea from We've Got a Diem to Carpe!
