Social Studies...First Grade FUN!!
Geography: The Unit Lesson mainly focuses on the United States and the North American continent, but the students will make Paper Plate Continents to see other continents in relation to the North American Continent and become more familiar with the position of all continents on Earth. This activity also promotes mapping skills such as using legends and directions (North, South, East, and West). classroom, idea, school, plate contin, papers, educ, socialstudi, paper plates, social studi
Good idea - Use nesting containers to illustrate the concepts of House, Town, State, Country, Continent, Planet.
Landforms passport: students can make their own passports to a specified type of landforms. Students can draw or print pictures of the landform and then write about that type of landform. Students could also list what they would take to see that landform. (I.e. mountains- mountain climbing gear, water, tennis shoes, etc.) This activity could also be used as biome passports.
Hands-on landform activity using waterproof clay, water, pie pans, and matching picture cards. Another way for students to visualize the different landforms, by having to make them themselves.
