Irish Spring and a cheese grater. Apparently squirrels hate the smell of the soap, so they'll stay out of your garden. as well as deer and mice. I've tried everything to get rid of the 40+ squirrels in my yard. Haven't tried this, but I will SOON!
The outdoor fireplace provides a focal point as well a a destination. The curving path, though solid, subconsciously relaxes the visitor by slowing their progress with curves , not only in the pathway, but also through the shape of the shrubs and planters. This proves that even hard materials with straight, geometric angles, can be softened when juxtaposed against enough soft curves. Well done!

Baking Soda neutralizes the ph in the soil and nothing will grow there. I use baking soda in a 6" wide area around all of the edges of my flower beds to keep the grass and weeds from growing into my beds. Just sprinkle it onto the soil so that it covers it lightly. I usually have to do this twice a year - spring and fall.
