I've got to do this next year New Student Pack. Make 5 extra at the beginning of the year and include: the name tag, lunch number, birthday candle for our display, labels for folders, desk plates, spelling folders, take-home folders, notebooks, beginning of the year information notes, brochure about our classroom, etc.
Send home a magnet with the teacher's email (or other contact info) at Meet & Greet (and other ideas!).
Behavior BINGO. setting this up THIS WEEK! Large 100 chart for the classroom, class rewards when they get BINGO. Earn 1 sticker for perfect class attendance and no tardies, or for good behavior in the hallway, etc. 2 stickers for a compliment, etc. Teacher keeps # 1-100 in a bucket and draws out when they earn a sticker, so they never know which numbers will be covered yet.
Word boxes: If a student doesn't know how to spell a word, they check the card in the box. If it's not there, they bring the card to me, we spell it together, and then the card goes back in its spot when they're done. Promotes independent writers!
I put this over student's desk for the week. Have one for birthdays too. They love it!!!

Wonder wall - you know when you're in the middle of something and you kid asks a question that you just don't know the answer to? Add it to your wonder wall so you can come back to it at a more appropriate time!---and that's how we can get off in a tangent, I'm thinking poster board size, great idea to encourage wonderings without interrupting the current lesson.
