Oh shoot -- that's the last time we'll see Peeta in a long time ..... :'(

I received an email from a fellow Hunger Games fan and thought she posed an interesting question about Katniss in Mockingjay. Click the picture to read my response. If you haven't read the last book, don't click!

you have to remember... prim is already dead. she doesn't think peeta is ever going to be ok ever again and she is mad at gale. I think she feels herself slipping into the ptsd and the depression. so she decided to go along with what coin says so she wont be suspicious of her. katniss acts first and then thinks about what she did. so when she went to go talk to snow, and he said "we agreed not to lie to each other" it all clicked into place. so when she shot coin, she was already prepared to die. she knew that whoever was going to be in office next wouldn't have the games again, cause when they were meeting and she asked was this Plutarch's idea? and when coin said "no. its all mine" katniss knew that coin hadn't talked to anyone else about the idea.

Michele, I love what you had to say. I think it's completely true that she didn't decide to kill Coin until the last second. Since we hear all her thoughts in the book, it is unlikely that she was plotting something without us knowing. I am still confused as to why she mentions how well Haymitch knows her, so I will have to re-read that section and think about it some more. Definitely a great discussion topic!

I think she was ready to die... that is why she went for the nightlock pill, which peeta blocked, after she shot coin. plus didn't haymitch(?) tell her also that snow was dying? or was that finnick when he was telling all of his secrets? so she knew that he wasn't going to be around too much longer.
