My daughter and I tried this and, of course' the first one turned out okay. We tried a few times later and our pictures turned out nice. We just went to Kinkos' and used their printer and our color pictures turned out really nice. Surprised me how nice our pictures turned out. I did have to keep wetting my paper on the wood because it would start drying out. I found it easier to use my finger to rub the paper off instead of the cloth because I didn't want my picture coming off. I think the key is patience! I did a large piece of wood with my mother's cat on it and it turned out great. My wood is bigger than my picture (pic is 8x10) and I plan on scrapbooking the emply space of wood around the picture with special cute embellishments! This will be a Christmas gift for my mother!

I used photo paper and glued the inkjet photo on with straight white glue. I let it set for about 24 hours and used water to get most of the paper off and I was able to take off what looked like a thin piece of white plastic and to my surprise the picture came out really nice. Lots of luck, it does work!

I forgot to add that my photo came out a little dull , so I rubbed it with a little toilet tissue and it brought out the shine to the photo.

HP Officejet Pro 8600 has waterproof ink ... not trying to push HP, but if you need a new printer anyway the ink does not smear and is a lot cheaper than a laserjet. I had no issue with smearing.
