Desert Drivel: Memoir tile coasters

Floor tiles as a pizza stone. I wouldn't repurpose, but use new or leftover from a project.

I can do this DIY: Leftover trim piece of wood for backing cork and cry erase tiles and some fabric scraps. Im thinking around 35-40 total since I have most of the materials including a nice sized piece of peg board!

I have a new blackboard to play with in the studio. I used a leftover floor tile we had from the new tv room & painted it with homemade chalkboard paint: 1 cup of black (or color of your choice) paint plus 2 tablespoons of un-sanded tile grout. Recipe from here.

1963 Detroit Michigan Map Coaster Ceramic by allmappedout - very cool use for leftover tiles and outdated maps - both of which are in abundance in my house!

Made this plaque from images I found on the internet and mod-podged them onto some leftover tiles I had laying around. I then nail glued them onto a wooden backer. Sucker weighs a ton.

Hot plate. Printed to tissue paper placed on leftover tile with mod podge and sealed with acrylic. Died some black paint to bring it together before final seal. Spray with heat resistant acrylic. The texture looks like its imbedded in the stone. Fun and quick project. Christmas presents?
