The Death of Marat,(1793) Jacques-Louis David Interview in the bath… Marat was editor-in-chief of the revolutionary newspaper L’Ami du people. He suffered from a skin disease, and spent long hours in his bath. Charlotte Corday, a young royalist, wrote to him requesting an interview, before murdering him in the tub. David shows Marat still clutching his assassin’s letter.
