Acrylic paint (enamel works even better, but it's more expensive) on a few smooth rocks, then placed here and there in my garden, makes a surprise treat for the eyes. I make sure to use non-toxic paints, 'cause my garden toad lives out there.

To prune Joseph's coat climbing roses: leave for two or three years, so as to grow and develop long, sturdy canes. Just keep them in bounds and remove dead or damaged stems the first years. Tie to support with stretchy floral tape. As the rose gets older select more canes to create structure and fill up fence or trellis. Remove other canes at the base of the plant. After you bend and tie the structural canes horizontally new lateral shoots will develop and sprout along the length.

Good tip:The next time you have green onions, don't throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. We just use kitchen scissors to cut what we need for meals. I periodically empty out the water, rinse the roots off and give them fresh water.

Outdoor sink. No plumbing required. Kind of awesome.
