Salep Orchid (Orchis mascula), also known as "fox-ball grass". This plant is best-known as the most important ingredient in Turkish dondurma (ice cream). In "Orchid Fever" , Eric Hansen tells a story about exporting a bag of the powdered root, and having to explain "Turkish orchid powder for making fox-ball ice cream" to customs officers. Oddly enough, they seem to have given it a free pass.
