A properly managed privy is at least as healthful for people and land as a septic system and is far more than a place to evacuate waste. Ours is a sanctuary in which to be quiet with no one to ask why you aren't busy; to think or read with no one waiting to get in to shave; to watch a small, pretty piece of the day pass outside (one of the clapboards on our outhouse has a crack that's perfect for viewing through, like Arctic sunglasses.
Outhouse Good one!

The Alamo: Some of the prettiest outhouses in Texas are on display in the "Thunderbox Road" travelling art exhibit. There are 12 full-sized"Thunderboxes" (or outhouses) painted and decorated In true Texas style. Sonja Howle with the "Thunderbox Road" exhibit says, "It was created to pay tribute and showcase the talent we have in the Hill Country artists." After their tour, the outhouses will be auctioned off to benefit medical research and the Western Art Museum in Kerrville.
An old Outhouse, Tennessee. Collecting photos of Middle Tennessee Outhouses seems somewhat strange, but due to the fact that these treasures are fast disappearing from the landscape makes it all the more necessary to photograph them. Those Outhouses which have not been destroyed or removed by human hands and urban development are fast decaying from the elements of time.
This was posted in "apartment ideas" pin board. Somehow, having any type of picture hanging of someone running to take a....ahem....#2 isn't cute or avant garde. It would gross me out to think it was your fault that I am now thinking about taking a poo. I don't want to think about that. I'm sure your guests wouldn't either.
