Isaiah 50:6 "I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting." Isaiah 52:14-15 "Just as there were many who were appalled at him, his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness..so will he sprinkle many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. Statue of Scourged Jesus & the Scarlet Robe: It is not known whether the number of lashes was limited to 39, in accordance with Jewish law. Believe this, there were more lashes than just the supposed 39 from the Romans. Include the multiple whips from the Temple guards who also whipped Jesus at his arrest, to and at the Temple and in the cell where they tortured him, before sending him to Pilate. Matthew 27:28 "They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him." (other sources the-crucifixion.org)
"After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:11-12 (NIV)
The Passion of Christ: Jesus could have easily escaped his enemies by his strong supernatural powers, instead He gave us salvation as he offered himself on the cross for all people. What would this world be without Jesus for what he did for mankind? We take for granted his supernatural powers, his love and his presence. Jesus is always with us, he never left us. Love Jesus ♥
