My grandmother, Dolly Vance, was my real life hero and the person I most admired above all. She is the only person known so far to have taken the State Board Nursing Test without actually attending school and passing the test in North Carolina. She was tutored by Dr. E.H.Smith and his wife Virginia while she worked in their offices at the hospital a number of years and learned everything hands on. I am so proud to be her granddaughter!
