During the violent months preceding the liberation of Paris, New Zealander Nancy Wake killed a German guard with a single karate chop to the neck, executed a woman who had been spying for the Germans, shot her way out of roadblocks and biked 70 hours through perilous Nazi checkpoints to deliver radio codes for the Allies. In spite of Hitler she lives to be 98. Awesome!

Her name is Annie Lumpkins and she was a Freedom Rider. She is pictured at the city jail in Little Rock July 10, 1961. She believed in your Right to Vote so much that she went to jail. #Vote

Barbara Charline Jordan (February 21, 1936 – January 17, 1996), member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was the first African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction and the first southern black female elected to the United States House of Representatives. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, among numerous other honors.
