Alkaline Recipe #64: Ribollita Vegetable Bean Soup - Ribollita is a famous soup from Tuscany in Italy and like many dishes from this region it has got peasant origins. The word Ribollita literally means “reboiled”, as it was originally made by reheating the leftover vegetable soup from the previous day. The core ingredients of this Tuscan soup are green vegetables and beans, which make this soup not only delicious but also highly nutritious and alkaline!
Alkaline Recipe #70: Spiced Turnips with Spinach and Tomatoes - This is a delicious vegetable stew from the Eastern Mediterranean using sweet baby turnips, tender spinach and ripe tomatoes. The use of these three vegetables makes this stew not only very healthy and alkalising, but also incredibly tasty!
Alkaline Recipe #66: Stuffed Tomatoes And Peppers - Peppers and tomatoes are packed with nutrients and are a good source of Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Potassium and Manganese, and are a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B6 and Folate. Both vegetables make great containers for various vegetable stuffings and this version uses typically Greek ingredients.
Alkaline Recipe #71: Kohlrabi Salad with Vegetable Dressing - I have come across this recipe using Kohlrabi and a Vegetable Dressing, which I think is delicious. I have eaten this salad in Germany where Kohlrabi is widely used. It’s a good source of Vitamin C, as well as magnesium and phosphorous, which are useful in the absorption of calcium.
Alkaline Recipe #72: Mixed Sprouts Salad - Sprouts are super healthy and are highly alkalising foods. They are extremely rich in digestible energy, bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, beneficial enzymes and phytochemicals. This is a great salad, as it is easy and quick to make and very tasty!
Alkaline Recipe #74: Raw Avocado and Tomato Soup - Avocados are incredibly healthy and alkalising and provide our bodies with six times more energy than sugar and proteins. They are rich in potassium, B vitamins, as well as vitamin E and vitamin K. The avocados combined with the other highly alkalising vegetables like spinach and tomatoes make this soup very tasty and refreshing.
Alkaline Recipe #76: Chinese Stir Fry Buckwheat Noodles - This is a delicious, alkaline and easy to prepare Chinese Stir Fry which our customer Eliza Miesch emailed to us. This recipe contains buckwheat noodles, which are a healthier and more alkaline alternative to other types of noodles.
Alkaline Diet Recipe #83: Kale Chickpea Mash - This recipe is absolutely delicious and uses very healthy and highly alkaline ingredients like kale, garlic and chickpeas. This mash has got an abundance of different flavours given by the thyme and shallots. You can serve this as a main course or as a side dish with fresh fish.
Alkaline Diet Recipe #87: Leeks and Asparagus Soup - This is one of those soups, which I increasingly crave the more I eat it. The main ingredient is asparagus, which is alkaline and packed with healthy nutrients. It is also a great alkaline vegetable for the weight conscious amongst us, as it is very low in sodium and low in calories. I hope you enjoy this delicious alkalising leeks and asparagus soup, which has a lovely lemon tang! Serves 4
Alkaline Diet Recipe #88: Roast Garlic and Spinach Salad - This salad contains both spinach and roast garlic, which are both packed with nutrients and are highly alkalising. Spinach is such a versatile vegetable as it can be fried, quickly boiled or steamed. I love the crunchy texture of the spinach and the sweet taste of the roast garlic in this alkalising salad. Serves 4
Alkaline Diet Recipe #89: Tunisian Chickpea Soup - This warming and alkalising chickpea soup has got delicious arabic flavours given by spices like cumin and coriander. I really like the smooth texture and oriental flavours in this alkalising chickpea soup, which are complemented by other ingredients like garlic, carrots, onions and celery. Serves 4
Alkaline Diet Recipe #90: Leafy Greens and Ginger Stir-Fry - This delicious stir-fry reflects my love for pumpkins and squashes of all colours and shapes. For this stir-fry you can use different leafy greens such as cavalo nero, green cabbage, chard or spinach which are all packed with nutrients and are high in calcium, iron, dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and folic acid to name a few. Serves 2
Alkaline Diet Recipe #91: Autumn Pumpkin Stew - This is a delicious pumpkin stew which contains other healthy and alkaline vegetables like carrots, pumpkins, new potatoes, onions and garlic which are all packed with a wide range of nutrients. Serves 4.
Alkaline Diet Recipe #92: Cauliflower Curry - This is a delicious and alkaline vegetable curry with an abundance of oriental flavours. The romanesco cauliflower is part of the brassica family and is low in fat, high in dietary fiber, water, folate, vitamin C and several phytochemicals which are beneficial to human health. Alkaline Diet Recipe #93: Quinoa & Apple Breakfast Warmer - I absolutely LOVE quinoa. It is a complete protein, containing the full amino acid range and is rich in the alkaline minerals manganese, magnesium and iron whilst containing heaps of vitamin b2 and fibre. It is quick and easy to cook, rather tasty (very subtle flavour) and gives you a great energetic start to the day. Serves 2.
Alkaline Diet Recipe #94: Fennel Soup - This is a highly nutritious and alkalising fennel soup, which will warm you up in these freezing temperatures. Fennel has got a unique combination of phytonutrients that give it a strong antioxidant activity and it is also high in Vitamin C, dietary fiber, potassium, manganese, folate, magnesium, calcium, iron, just to name a few as the list could go on! Alkaline Diet Recipe #95: Alkaline Curry Lentil Stew - This stew has got an abundance of different flavours given by a variety of oriental spices like kurkuma, ginger, chilli paste, curry and cumin. The main ingredient are lentils, which are a type of pulse and belong to the legume family. They are widely used throughout India, Pakistan, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Other vegetables in this stew are onions, leeks and carrots, which are all alkalising and packed with nutrients. Serves 4
Alkaline Diet Recipe #96: Sweet Potato Soup - This sweet potato soup recipe has been created by the famous British chef Antony Worrall Thompson. Sweet potatoes have got a high nutritional value and are rich in protein, dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, calcium and iron. The other ingredients are onions, garlic, ginger, coconut cream, spinach and coriander, which are all alkalising. Alkaline Diet Recipe #97: Alkaline Lentil Ratatouille - This is a very interesting version of the ratatouille, as the classic version contains a variety of mediterranean vegetables. This recipe contains lentils as the key ingredient together with leeks, peppers, spices and brown basmati rice. This recipe only takes about 20 minutes to prepare from start to finish and is therefore great if you are in a hurry. I hope you enjoy this mouth watering, alkaline and healthy alkaline lentil ratatouille!
Alkaline Diet Recipe #99: Marinated Salmon Fillet Asian Style - Salmon is my favourite type of fish and this recipe has got an abundance of different flavours given by the Asian herbs and spices used as a marinade. Salmon is a particularly good “oily” type of fish to use, as it is high in protein, Vitamin D and most importantly the Omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential for good health and should be included as much as possible on the acid/alkaline diet. Serves 4.
