Things Made from Pallets

Pallets are either free or a couple dollars a piece. They contain a lot of good usable wood and come in different sizes. They're kind of heavy and bulky to work with until you take them apart; which can require a lot of effort (most are built fairly strong to carry very heavy loads and to withstand a forklift moving them). Those facts aside, they're terrific for dozens and dozens of rustic projects. Here's a sampling...

All you ever wanted to know about pallet wood

Good to know: pallets marked "HT" mean "heat treated" for insect infestation. "MB" means fumigated with methyl bromide, a toxic pesticide. "HT" is safer, but may still have been contaminated by chemicals during shipping.
