My Perfect Library

My entry into the Perfect Library Contest by the Kansas City Library, @kclibrary

via @womensvoicesRo Howe of Barraud Caterers reviews the new book, finds it "serious fun."

The Library at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch - in a galaxy far, far away (actually down a long and windy road pretty close to home), I temped here during my roaring 20s, and going to the library was a highlight...the flower conservatory, too...and the restaurants (yes, plural)... ~Literary Mom

HOLY COW!!! I won!!!! Congrats to @ewillse, champion of our Pin Your Perfect Library Pinterest contest. #NLW12 Runners-up: @Abbe Wood, @Brook Balentine-Alfino, @Leslynn Gregory, @Jody Donohue, @Erin Hogan, @Madelaine Gogol, @Lindy Rhodes, @Vanessa Cox, @JediKitty

Love this! Every library should have a wall of magnetic poetry for people to play with! This is from the Oak Park Public Library in Oak Park, IL. (

My perfect library would have fun contests and activities like this one pinned by @Chris Lombardi "The BEST kind of volunteering - the Global Reading Challenge! Thanks Toni Myers @womensvoices."

via BEA I also like this because it's purple...

The Little Free Library - a movement to build mini-book exchanges, promote literacy, and build community. Began in Madison, Wisconsin. #microlibrary alexismarlene

Very cool! Visitor Desk made of books. From the TU Delft Architecture Bibliotheek

I would put these and other neat homemade bookmarks in a jar on the circulation desk. "easy bookmarks from fabric scraps via Alicia Alvers."

Activity: make bookmarks like these. Page Corner Bookmarks: Great idea for a literary craft project from Samantha (@slglms)

For the wall color. Would have accents of color peeking out from behind bookshelves.

I would love to feature book sculpture art from the mysterious Edinburgh artist.

I like the colors and layout, but would replace the TV with a poster, if it were in my library.... via @Charmaine Ng Wonder if this homeliness could be replicated in public or school spaces.

While part of me wants the Perfect Library to be a small, cozy local spot... I love the grandeur of this! Inside the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. by Raymond Larose on Flickr, via @mrholle on Tumblr.
