Use crates on either side of 'dead' area back to back to define space then won't have to build the built-in shelving ideas. Plus can take them if we move.

Using boxes for book shelves = super smart! Probably very cheap. Can be painted or replaced easily. Since each box is only holding a few, there shouldn't be too much stress on them. I LOVE this idea.
