“I heard you went to Ireland...I haven't seen it in many years. Is it still green then, and beautiful? Wet as a bath sponge and mud to the knees but, aye, it was green enough.” ― Diana Gabaldon, The Scottish Prisoner

Cottage at Muckross traditional farm, Ireland.
Day 15 - Adare. A traditional thatched cottage. Two things I wanted to see: the "green" (as my high school Govt. teacher always put it when he spoke of Ireland being the most wonderful place he'd ever visited) & thatched roof cottages. They are completely charming, every one, but this one is especially precious.
Thatched cottage near Kinnitty Castle in County Offaly, Ireland. Like something out of a fairytale, this thatched cottage is behind the castle, at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains and with a Celtic ring of stones in the foreground (the castle is located on ancient druid ceremonial ground).
