I'm all for making kids responsible and this is a good way to do it. The things they missed are all in one place. It is up to them to get their materials. This teacher has a lot of great classroom organization ideas.

Use filing bins to organize lesson plans, hard copies, etc. The black bin has a file for every common core 7th grade math standard. I now can easily file and find resources. The clear bin has a file for every week of the school year so you can easily reference back to your lessons the next year.
