People I Admire

Esther Tuttle, age 99: "Your body is your instrument, and you have to take beautiful care of it. I do one hour of yoga and walk for 30 minutes every day. You really enjoy life a lot more if you're healthy. And I never leave home without putting on lipstick—it makes me feel pretty!"

Healthy Dose Link Time

This has always been one of my favorites.

John Unger cradling his dog Schoep, in Lake Superior. Schoep is 19 and has arthritis that prevents him from sleeping. John carries Schoep to Lake Superior and cradles him in his arms until Schoep falls asleep. John credits Schoep for saving his life and now John does all he can for Schoep. I could cry. this story was so touching.

dr. sally ride, a physicist, who in 1983 at the age of 32, flew on the shuttle challenger and became the youngest and first american woman in space. gloria steinem, editor of ms. magazine at the time, said, “millions of little girls are going to sit by their television sets and see they can be astronauts, heroes, explorers, and scientists.” • she inspired us to reach for the stars, literally. . . ride sally ride . . . rest in peace

Meet Oogy, Oogy was about ten weeks old and weighed 20 pounds he was tied to a stake and used as bait for a Pit Bull. The left side of his face including most of his ear was torn off. He was bitten so hard a piece of his lower jaw was crushed. Afterward, he was thrown into a cage and left to bleed to death. If you have time to reblog pointless hipster photos, you’ll have time to reblog this, respect for Oogy
