The Winchester Mystery House is a mansion in Northern California. It once was the residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester. It was continuously under construction for 38 years and is reported to be haunted. Belief holds that a medium told Winchester she must build a home for the spirits who had fallen from the Winchester rifle, and she must never stop building. If she continued building she would live forever, but if she stopped she would die.
