Wish lanterns are a traditional part of some Asian weddings and birthday celebrations. Party guests attach their wishes for the guest of honor and watch them float up into the sky. The lanterns are made of biodegrable rice paper. A fuel cell attached to the bottom lights up the lanterns and fills them with hot air. They are essentially little hot air balloons. The fuel burns itself out in about 12 minutes.
