Civil War Dolls

Since we now have our own reenacting doll, Flora, we enjoy looking at pictures of real 1860s dolls!

I believe she is dead! Look at the stand at her feet and the odd look on her face and odd way her left hand is!

Civil War Child- WOW what a coat and trimmings and doll...1861

Paper mache Lady Doll with Flirty Eyes Circa 1840

Princess Victoria's doll "Gertrude, Lady Arnold" a fictitious character. This doll is illustrated in the book "Queen Victoria's Dolls" in this costume. c. 1832

Both girl and doll seem to have a pained expression... in the case of the girl, you can see why - the photographer's clamp holding her still from behind! :)

Notice how Dollie's dress is spread out so you can see the trim... somebody must have worked hard on that dress! :)

Is it just me, or do they both have the same expression on their faces? :D
