Stunning home. Loved visiting it in person. What fun.

The 2013 HGTV Dream Home is SUPERB in design and construction inside and out. I love that they were able to incorporate actual objects from the site into the landscape and also into the interior as well. All the rooms are top of the line in design and choice of furniture and fabrics thanks to Linda Woodrum's unique and keen sense of style, character, continuity of color, and warmth that bring everything together to make a house into an inviting and charming HOME! I love that the home has a glass foyer that splits the two wings so the one is a public wing and one a private wing. Superb design in using slate outside the front door, carrying it through the home out the back door to the outdoor kitchen which I love slate and it gives it a graceful flow to the use of flooring which is extremely durable and extremely easy to clean. The use of windows for full advantage of outdoor lighting to bring the outside in, the use of steel beams outside as well as inside in which the steel holds the gorgeous wooden beams inside to allow for full window height which is not usually the case in the homes in this area. The open kitchen, dining and living area are superb. The waterfall effect of the countertop, as well as the appliances all on one wall making for a sleek stainless steel solidity without clutter as well as a window above the sink maximizes the use of space with an abundance of storage cabinets. There is even seating for five at the counter as well as seating at the dining room table and living room with the open concept entertaining options are endless. Also you can go right from the kitchen through the door right to the outdoor kitchen with seating for six at the outdoor seating as well as there is extra seating outside as well as there is a huge grill with a built in refrigerator. There is a spending gas fireplace which is wrapped in steel and finished so it will never rust!! This is unusual as most are not wrapped and have rust. You can have endless possibilities for uses of the outdoor kitchen as well as use it with the kitchen, dining room, and living room combination. I love that their are shelves in the dining room to hold the serving pieces as well as glassware which gives you storage as well as saves so many steps to get these items on an as need basis. Also there is shelving outside to hold items you use outdoors especially loving the s'mores canisters on the shelving which you can make them at the gas fireplace that is also on the outdoor patio. From the patio you have a view of the pine trees, and just beyond them is the community golf course, and behind them are the Carson Mountains. The outside can be seen inside as well as there are as many windows as could be out in the home as was possible. There are windows in the garage that allow light in but no one can see in as they are above people's height. The garage is superb in the fact it has a drain for all the water to go when the snow and/or ice melt off of the vehicles, therefore, no pools of water will be lying in the garage. Once you go through the garage door into the home there is a great powder room! It is gorgeous as well it is great for newly arriving home and washing up. There is also a laundry room with brand new washer and dryer, plenty of storage cabinets, as well as great countertop space to fold the laundry. There is also a special pet room with its own space with doors that shut so that the pets have a space while guests are enjoying their time with the homeowners as well as the other guests. They know while they are visiting that their pets are safe and have their own place to relax and to eat. The home has a private wing with a master bedroom which is huge. It has a gas fireplace in the wall, which is two sided and the other side being outside where the outdoor kitchen is on the other side of the wall. There is a chair on either side of the fireplace to sit and relax. We love to read and this is a cozy place to curl up and read. There is also a wall mounted tv that will be great to watch and we can watch HGTV and all our favorite shows on the channel. The only other channel that we watch is the news channel. We both love HGTV as it has such a variety of shows you never tire of it. The room is so warm and inviting since Linda used such warm hues in the paint, the bed, the textures and the color of the bedding. I love that she used dressers for nightstands so it makes for extra storage which I say you can never have enough of for sure. Also it is a great place for lamps, clocks or anything else you wish to display or place on them. The great use of long drapes and shades to block out the light when you want to shut out the light is great and you can open them when you want all the natural light from the outdoors into the room from all the great windows placed throughout the exterior walls. I love the artwork Linda chose for the walls as well to add extra color and texture. The master bathroom is splendid and suits us so well. My husband loves to take showers and this shower will accommodate the fact he is six ft 4 inches tall. He loves glass showers. I love to soak in the tub and this is a beautiful sleek tub which I will enjoy. It is great that both of us can get ready at the same time. Having his and her sinks is always an added bonus as once again two people can get ready at the same time. We love the use of the ceramic tile and also the pebble flooring in the shower. The bathroom gives off a spa effect. It is so gorgeous! The guest bedroom is terrific with a four poster bed. A desk beside the bed is wonderful for writing or for using a laptop. There is also a wall mounted tv in this bedroom as well! The warm hues, textures and color all pull you in to a warm and cozy retreat! I know our guests will love this room. The windows do bring the outside in, but once again this room has the same features to block the light from coming in the room when guests are ready to take a nap or retire for the night. There is great artwork with two pieces that coordinate and one is in the guest bedroom and the other in the guest bathroom so it draws one's eye into the guest bathroom. I love that the guest bathroom is dual purpose as it not only serves the guest bedroom but also has a door from the hallway as well. It is a spa effect bathroom as well. All of our guests will think they are in a spa when they use this bathroom! The stairs up to the second floor are across from the powder room. They are a floating staircase. The wooden beams gleam and the steel meshwork between the wood are unique in design. When the sun shines through the steel meshwork, it creates its own unique design on the wall to the right of the floating staircase. At the top of the stairs is a unique alcove. It has plenty of natural light from the window and is a great space at the top of the stairs that can be used in various ways! The second floor hallway is not just a hallway. It has seats and indoor lighting as well as natural light from the outdoors coming to the inside from all the windows! I love the continuity of use of windows in this home. Most cabin homes are dark and lack windows which is not the case since the designers made use of steel beams and wood beams to make the roof pitch high on the inside as well to allow for maximum height of the windows! There are chairs in the hallway to sit and relax, read, listen to music or take in the outdoor scenery through the windows that bring the outdoors inside! At the end of the hallway is a unique piece of furniture that I love as it is a hutch that we would use to put the grandchildren board games in for them to have in one place. The bunk room they would love as I can picture them putting on plays with a stage, curtains and props which they already have. I also picture them playing board games as I love their is plenty of seating for them as well as all the wonderfully placed windows for so much natural light!! They also like to play their version of American Idol. We are always the judges. They love to sing, dance and to perform. This is a great room to do it all. The bold red is a terrific use of color and design. The textures again are so wonderful. They will love having a tv at the end of each bed! Wow! We also pop popcorn and have snacks from the kitchen that I love to make for the grandchildren. They love it! They can all have their favorite blankets and bring them along with the fact that the Muppets will be a surprise greeting they will love! Meanwhile the other guest will be in the media room when they want to watch the huge big screen tv and have a room that easily seats 10 people at the same time. I can picture a baseball game or football game with everyone rooting for his or her team. I love to cook, bake and entertain in our home and this being our new home would make it all the more special. I cannot wait to get into the kitchen with all new appliances and all the great countertop space! I love the choice of yellow seating that makes the use of the yellow color pop! The waterfall effect has been my favorite ever since I saw this used on a segment on HGTV. I first saw it used with quartz. I love this waterfall and the color in it! All the color in the home is a theme used throughout the home along with the windows, wood and steel. The continuity and theme of color, texture and warm from designer Linda Woodrum shows her superiority in home designer touch! She has what it takes to do the job right! I cannot wait to surprise my husband, He enters 2 times a day, but I do all of the Pinterest,Twitter and Facebook. We both LOVE the 2013 Dream Home from HGTV. We both have watched it twice on HGTV hour long shows. I want to surprise him so much as he is 1 of 12 children who grew up with nothing. They were extreme poverty, but they had each other. His parents are both passed away. His mother, bless her soul. said they didn't have much, but had "just enough". She raised them very lovingly. His family is loving and wonderful. His mom made Christmas stockings for them later on in life. Every year we host a party in our home and each one brings a covered dish and something for everyone else's stockings. This is a tradition his mom started and wanted to see it continued. We purchased tables from a church and set them up. We borrow cairs from the church to use for seats at the table. They all love it every year. We love hosting the party. We would love to have this home to entertain them and have them visit any time as well as at the holidays! It would be such a wonderful home to be able to entertain them with and have them be able to spread out and enjoy everything the home has to offer. Also I would have the room to cook and bake and I can always fill up two refrigerators as we always have an extra refrigerator in the garage. My husband is the youngest boy. He was the eighth child. He has three younger sisters. In 2008 I almost lost my husband. He worked on concrete for over 30 years. The vessels in his left foot were flattened and his foot hurt him very bad. He had foot surgery for the foot specialist to go into his foot and round out the vessels. A month later he was in great pain. He went to the foot dr and from there he went and got an ultrasound done which showed he had a blood clot from his ankle to his groin in his left leg. He went right from the ultrasound office to the hospital and they were waiting on him to admit him immediately. So in less than an hour this all took place. They gave him 8000 units of Heparin instant pack right away and started an IV of Heparin. They said he should be fine in about 3 days. He was not. They checked his blood and found out he had a rare blood clotting disorder called Homocysteinemia. He was in the hospital 8 days and he still was not what level his blood thickness should be as it was still too thick at 1.6 which it was 0.6 when he was admitted to the hospital. They said it should be at least 2.0. The whole time in the hospital he had to be confined to bed or only up in a wheelchair long enough if he had to use the restroom. If the clot moved it would kill him instantly as it would go to his lungs or heart. They cannot put a green filter in him or he will bleed to death. Now he has 3 blood clots as well as he has 3 nodules in his lungs, but those are from working in chemicals to make ink which he did for almost 30 years. If they do not change, they say that the nodules will not cause a problem. They are 3, 6, and 9 mm in size. So far so good on the nodules. However, we go through daily with the blood clots as they should have created new pathways in his legs, and therefore help him get more oxygen into his blood. This they are not seeing as happening to date. My husband worries about me. I have Lupus, have had a corpectomy C3-C7, as well as 7 strokes. I do not worry about me. I worry about him. I am able to do as I can, just have to rest more than I used to, I just cannot go 100 mph as I used to do. We are both now retired so we can keep an eye on each other which is a lot easier that one at work and one at home not knowing. I want to surprise my husband so much as he is not materialistic, but I know he would love this home as he says all the time there is our home because we see the commercial all the time on HGTV for Lake Tahoe and the Home I love the Dream Home too! It would be a Dream come true for sure! To be able to share it with his family would be so wonderful as they appreciate every little thing. Believe me they do not take anything for granted either. I would love to see my husband's face as he would be SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF, but he would be so well pleased that he would ever be able to live in a home such as this as the HGTV Dream Home is a once in a lifetime home; He Loves vehicles and he Loves the Denali!!! He said he would love to drive it and wants to explore Lake Tahoe, Truckee and all the areas as well as we sent for a packet from them for tourists to see what they could provide to us as well as we are on the internet all the time checking every area in and around the dream home. HIs brother in law is head golf pro of the golf course here. I am sure he would love to come out with his sister and play some rounds of golf at the community golf course here and check it out as well as stay over in the guest bedroom with he and his wife. We would love to have them stay over in our new Dream Home. All of them can come as there is plenty of room and just as his mom said there is always "just enough"!!!
