A charming backyard playhouse serves as the focal point for this relaxing private retreat.

Adding pretty pizzazz to your home's front entrance is an easy, low-cost way to up your home's curb appeal.

I also love those house numbers.

  • HGTV

That's a front door we'd love to open!

  • Laurie March

    Red looks so fresh!

  • Terry Riley

Gorgeous red. It really stands out. I have huge concrete step now and I love them, but unfortunately they were damaged a few weeks ago when we got the snow and ice. I put salt on them, not realizing it would cause damage. Now the beauty of my front is ruined. At least until I figure out how to fix the look of the steps. Any ideas?

Installing a rain barrel directly under a downspout is one of the more efficient methods to harvest rainwater. I love the brass spout on this one too! What do you think?

Hey - remember the basics (such as starting with and maintaining focal points) when you plan your landscape. You got this! www.hgtv.com/...

  • HGTV

"Plan for equipment access." Another important one!

  • Home Builder ✨✨

Hey..move that tree away from house. It's a disaster in the making. Maybe 12' away min. for smaller specimen (is it a dogwood)

  • Kat Hoopingarner

Here in Alaska there is a high risk of forest fire. They recommend a defensible space around your house of 30 feet. At least we don't have to worry about the heat!

  • Kim Mattingly

Totally agree with Home Builder. My first thought was: That tree needs more room!

Now let's head from the garden to the landscape. Laurie March (HGTVRemodel's The House Counselor) is here to share spectacular curb appeal ideas and inspiration. www.hgtv.com/...

"Hardscape!" Why have I never heard that term before? I love it!

  • Terry Riley

I will be studying this as well. I have to put down a walkway this year since I have changed my deck.

  • Home Builder ✨✨

I started using Crusted granite for hardscape garden paths. DIY and beatiful

I love dogs too. My dog Newton eats the peas straight off the vine! Either that or he snoozes in the shade while I work. Gardening with pets is so great ...

My two cats would love this garden. If they are happy I am happy...

Your, herbs are in basket to keep them from invading or to pick up and table top harvest? Are any of these YOUR garden?

If you're just starting out, the upfront costs of garden tools and supplies can take their toll on your wallet. EEK! Here are a few frugal ideas to help you keep more green while you grow green --> www.hgtvgardens.c...

Carrots haven't always been orange! Entice children to eat fresh vegetables and love gardening with the 'Dragon' variety. Great flavor and a great surprise when plucked from the soil.

Who says homegrown tomatoes can't be as pretty as those in the supermarket? This 'Rose de Berne' variety impresses those seeking flavor, but also raises the bar for uniform, round fruits in clusters.

An everbearing variety that continually produces plump strawberries through summer and fall, 'Eversweet' is a reliable performer. Line ornamental and edible beds with plants, or use as a productive groundcover.

Kat - adding a little hydrogen peroxide to your water for seedlings keeps them strong and disease free!

  • Terry Riley

I am not sure what causes it, but I can promise you I make it happen every year. It is when the seedlings die off and I think from too much moisture or watering.

  • Terry Riley

Hydrogen Peroxide, what an awesome valuable tip!!!! I have such trouble with seedlings.

  • Laurie March

Terry - try the hydrogen peroxide - my seedlings were crazy strong this year! the soil might get a little white on top - but that's ok... it's from the hydrogen perox.

  • Terry Riley

Thanks! I am definitely going to try it even tomorrow! I have been itching to get started but usually have to wait to direct sow everything, because I am so bad at the seedling starts. I am going to give it a shot.

  • Marsha King

Great idea to keep my container gardens moist. I wonder if the mulch will help keep squirrels away?

  • Laurie March

Marsha - you may be on your own with the sneaky squirrels ;)

  • Samantha Keen

I've never thought to mulch the containers.
