In the Florida springs sunfish (bream) often gather around manatee and pick at various bits. While it is not certain this fish attention is beneficial to the manatee, they do seem to tolerate the little sunfish if there aren't too many of the fish. But, when the mangrove snapper and especially irritating sheepshead come to pick off bits, the manatee seem profoundly irritated and will usually try to move away.
